Now that peace has returned to the garage and the Red Chev is behaving, I thought steps should be taken to reduce to possibility of another fuel blockage in the future. The small steel filter that was on the electric fuel pump would appear to be a bit inadequate. I have fitted a clear plastic bodied version, very similar to the Ryco Z12 that I ran for over 30 years on the Vac Tank with no problems.
So lets see how the fuel system runs in the next few months.
The positive out of last weeks breakdown is the Red Chev now starts a lot quicker, which could be the new points or replacing the broken points contact spring.
Stay tuned, I will keep you posted. Below is a couple of shots of the new filter.
