A very windy Melbourne day greeted all who ventured out for the Dandenong Valley Historic Car Club run to the historic Bundoora Homestead.
We had a guided tour through a beautiful building from a bygone era that I have driven past dosens of times without giving it more than a thought.
Starting life as a private residence, in 1920 the Homestead became a convalescent farm and repatriation hospital and in 1924 the Bundoora Repatriation Mental Hospital.
The building continued in the care of returned serviceman through to 1993 when it was decommissioned and earmarked for demolition in favour of a housing development.
After a long campaign the building was saved, restored to its former glory and reopened in 2001 as
Bundoora Homestead Art Centre.
I can highly reccomend a visit to the Homestead, which is a valueable link to the areas history.
A great display of club cars were parked in an ideal location for their age.

Prior to the homestead tour we meet at the home of Josie and Terry, where Josie had prepared a delicious lunch that was enjoyed by all.
