Just before Christmas I purchased a crown wheel and pinion as a spare for the Red Chev. Arriving today I was more than pleased with the item. Once I removed a bit of surface rust and soaked in Rust Buster for about 2 hours, it now has that beautiful gun metal blue coating that will protect it for another 80 years, or until I need it.
Step 1. The untreated part (still with the lead seal attached)
Step 2. A quick once over with the wire brush
Step 3. A two hour soak in Rust Buster
Step 4. Ready to put the seal back on and the part into storage for a rainy day
The purpose of this Blog
This blog is to detail my 50 years (1973 - 2023) with a 1928 Chevrolet tourer, affectionately called "The Red Chev".
The acquisition, restoration, improvements and my experiences over the years are covered in as much detail as I can remember.
Some of the later postings include car club outings and other vintage car items that I hope will be of interest to people.
If you have the time, scroll back to where it all began in 1973 and follow the journey so far.
Thanks for dropping by.
