The purpose of this Blog

This blog is to detail my 50 years (1973 - 2023) with a 1928 Chevrolet tourer, affectionately called "The Red Chev".

The acquisition, restoration, improvements and my experiences over the years are covered in as much detail as I can remember.

Some of the later postings include car club outings and other vintage car items that I hope will be of interest to people.

If you have the time, scroll back to where it all began in 1973 and follow the journey so far.

Thanks for dropping by.

Regards Ray Dean

When is a 28 Chev a 27 Chev

Found this one advertised on Ebay, from Qld.

Nice looking Chev, advertised as a 28, but its....

- A 27 with a 28 engine
- No front brakes
- 27 instruments
- 27 Radiator surround.

It has the USA left hand drive exhaust manifold, which as you can see from the engine bay picture the steering column is virtually touching the exhaust. First time I have ever seen this setup. Very dangerous.

This was the reason right hand drive 28's have a unique manifold, to clear the steering column.

Would make me ask the question, "Has it been for a long drive"
