The purpose of this Blog

This blog is to detail my 50 years (1973 - 2023) with a 1928 Chevrolet tourer, affectionately called "The Red Chev".

The acquisition, restoration, improvements and my experiences over the years are covered in as much detail as I can remember.

Some of the later postings include car club outings and other vintage car items that I hope will be of interest to people.

If you have the time, scroll back to where it all began in 1973 and follow the journey so far.

Thanks for dropping by.

Regards Ray Dean

Day 17 - 28 Chev Ute Restoration (14th June 2015)

Need suggestions for a name for this 28 ute.... but will get to that at the end of this posting

As planned today I wire brushed and cleaned up of the 28 rear axle housing and torque tube.

There is something under all that vintage dirt and grease?

There you go

The 28 bits now join the 29 bits, waiting to see what happens next

Thinking about a name for the ute.......... But something that reflects that it has had a very hard life, and has not been sitting in a shed for many years waiting to be found.. All parts so far indicate a lot of use and off road work.

Check out this ding in the bottom of the housing, cosmetic only, but will fill with weld anyway.

Why.... Because I know its there.

You could call this a restoration....... or maybe a salvage.

So a name?

I initially thought of Sally, as in salvage.

Any suggestions most welcome.
