Aussie Chev Factory Ute - Listed as 32 - Believe its a 33

First appearances on the EBay listing don't look promising, but the more you look and what has been done already, maybe it is a good proposition, and it is a 32 Chev according to the listing, but I received some great feedback from Bruce S. DeFord and Bruce Pearce that its a 33.

Is it not as bad as it looks for the asking price of $5,000?

- Already stripped. 

- Chassis is being sandblasted. 

- Engine is not seized

- Reconditioned engine/gearbox included in the sale.

- Original wire spoke rims. Wheels on car are just to move it

1932 Chevrolet roadster ute

Body built by Holden 

Straight 6 Chev motor

Very very rare car. This could possibly be one of the last 1932 Holden built ute back Chev roadster. 

Chassis/engine/etc. built in America and imported to Australia then Holden built the rest. 

This is a convertible not hard top

It is a ute back not a pick up the tray is part of the body.

It has surface rust and very minor small patches of rust in sections of the gaurds. The running boards are very rusty although a easy repair. Looks worse than what it is. 

The car is currently stripped. All parts and panels are off. Chassis is being sandblasted. 

Engine is not seized however I have the same engine/gearbox setup that has been reconditioned and ready to bolt in not included in the sale. I have the original wire spoke rims. Wheels on car are just to move it

Parts required to finish it off is the bench seat, windscreen and timber floor for the ute back. 

Inspections are welcomed.

Revisiting Stan the 1925 Chev of Patrick Ryan

A great Chevy that's worth a second look

The "Blue Chev" or "Stan" is home at last.

After a once over by a mechanic, all oils replaced, and the radiator repaired, Patrick drove his new toy, a 1925 Chev tourer home last Saturday, a trip of some 6o k's, sitting on 45 mph most of the way.

Pleased to hear all went well.

The next day Patrick did Bunnings, Woollies, Coles and had a dozen kids (strangers) sitting in her to have their pictures taken. 

Patrick says the names "Stan" and "The Blue Chev" have been mentioned a few times..

Had a great day up at Trafalgar with Grant and Monty the 1928Chev.

I was up there to give Grant a hand with a couple of things, and also for me to test out the Red Chev with a new fuel filter. Pleased to say both went well, with Monty running a lot better by the end of the day, and the Red Chev performing well over the entire 134 mile round trip, which was in addition to 54 miles yesterday.

The first job was a compression test on Monty, and confirmed the engine is in very good condition. We then disconnected the fuel line at the vac tank and gave the line a blow out just in case there was any blockages between the petrol tank and the vac tank.

The next job was to fit a vintage carter fuel filter just before the vac tank. The unit fitted up well, looks like its always been there, and we were soon on a blast down to Yaragon for our regular testing session coffee stop.

The final task was to investigate a fuel leak in the carby when the engine is turned off and the vac tank fuel tap is left open. Suspecting it was the needle and seat, we pulled them both out and I was surprised to find it was one I had never seen before. To be on the safe side we replaced it with a spare I had and this seemed to fix the problem.

It looks like the original needle and seat was not the right one and I suspect was continually flooding the system, leaking and causing a few concerns that there may have been a more serious engine problem.

Pleased to say all ended well, both car and owner were happy, and I set off back to Melbourne after a photo session. Head wind that changed to cross wind along the way made the trip home a bit dramatic, and luckily I just made it home before the heavens opened up.

Found this on Gumtree, in Qld need a very, very large amount of TLC. Looks like a mid 20's Chev that has had a 28 motor fitted.

Good for parts or scrap, for $1,200 can be yours. Is it too far gone?
