The purpose of this Blog

This blog is to detail my 50 years (1973 - 2023) with a 1928 Chevrolet tourer, affectionately called "The Red Chev".

The acquisition, restoration, improvements and my experiences over the years are covered in as much detail as I can remember.

Some of the later postings include car club outings and other vintage car items that I hope will be of interest to people.

If you have the time, scroll back to where it all began in 1973 and follow the journey so far.

Thanks for dropping by.

Regards Ray Dean

Dandenong Valley Historic Car Club "Old English Garden Party Run" 7th April 2013

You could not have asked for better weather than we were greeted with for the DVHCC http://www.dvhcc.com.au/  Old English Garden Party. With the majority meeting up at the BP Service Station in Lyndhurst for a coffee and a chat, we then motored off to Margaret and Ray's property on the Mornington Peninsula, where we were joined by a few that travelled directly to the event. Would have to be the biggest turnout of club members that I have seen at an event, approx. 100.

The sequence of photos is as follows

1. Coffee time at the meeting place
2. Members cars waiting to set off
3. A few of the vehicles that live at Margaret and Ray's property
4. The "English Garden Party"
5. Getting into the spirit of the event with table layouts and a few competitions
6. Even the nippers got involved

Both Jan and I had a great day, and our thanks to Margaret and Ray for inviting us to their beautiful property and all those who were involved behind the scenes in the organizing and preparation .

As for the Red Chev, pleased to see it behaved very well and completed the 66 mile round trip from The Basin with no problems.

  1. Thanks Ray. We weren't able to attend and it looks as though we missed a great day.
