The purpose of this Blog

This blog is to detail my 50 years (1973 - 2023) with a 1928 Chevrolet tourer, affectionately called "The Red Chev".

The acquisition, restoration, improvements and my experiences over the years are covered in as much detail as I can remember.

Some of the later postings include car club outings and other vintage car items that I hope will be of interest to people.

If you have the time, scroll back to where it all began in 1973 and follow the journey so far.

Thanks for dropping by.

Regards Ray Dean

2011 - 6th November Tour of the National Rhododendron Gardens

A beautiful day was in store as we meet at Bunnings in Narre Warren and drove in a orderly convoy behind our organizers for the days activities, Les and Jan Francis.

Les had arranged the run for the DVHCC http://www.dvhcc.com.au/ with our destination being the National Rhododendron Gardens at Olinda, in the Dandenongs

We were joined there by a few others who had made their own way to the venue.

A few hardy souls walked the gardens, located on a 100 acre property, but most of the group did the arm chair tour in a Mini Bus. The bus tour was made more enjoyable by the driver, who had an excellent knowledge of the gardens and was a great ambassador for the site.

Lunch was at the nearby Olinda Golf House Cafe, which we all but filled the building with our group.

Approx 34 club members took part in both club and modern cars.

I have included a few shots of the day and thanks to Les and Jan for organizing a great run. In my case it was a round trip of 69 k's or 43 miles.
