The purpose of this Blog

This blog is to detail my 50 years (1973 - 2023) with a 1928 Chevrolet tourer, affectionately called "The Red Chev".

The acquisition, restoration, improvements and my experiences over the years are covered in as much detail as I can remember.

Some of the later postings include car club outings and other vintage car items that I hope will be of interest to people.

If you have the time, scroll back to where it all began in 1973 and follow the journey so far.

Thanks for dropping by.

Regards Ray Dean

Franklin 1904 Trip from San Francisco to New York

Clayton Carris and co-driver L.L. Whitman drove an air-cooled Franklin car from San Francisco to New York in the summer of 1904 in record time.

This 8 minute video uses the pictures they took along the way to tell the story of driving across America more than 100 years ago.

No gas stations. Few roads. Great adventure. It can also be viewed as of May 15, 2010, in the Franklin building at The Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners Michigan.

With ragtime accompaniment by Glenn Jenks.
